Thank you for your participation with BreastScreen Otago Southland, the regional provider of the national breast screening programme, BreastScreen Aotearoa (BSA).
Through routine quality monitoring, BreastScreen Otago Southland recently identified a potential issue related to the mammogram reading process, involving a specific radiologist, and affecting some mammograms performed between May 2020 and May 2021.
Your mammogram was included in this group.
Your mammogram has been reviewed. Two qualified radiologists (doctors who report mammograms) have reported on your mammogram and have found that the original result has not changed, that is, there is NO EVIDENCE of BREAST CANCER.
Mammography can miss cancers. It is therefore important to see your doctor promptly if you notice any change in your breasts.
BreastScreen Otago Southland understands that learning of this situation may be distressing to you and sincerely apologises for this. Our primary concern is the safety of all women, which is why the decision was made to review these mammograms.
If you would like to discuss further please call 0800 855 066 Press option 2 ‘claims and subsidies’ then option 1 which mentions screening, followed by option 3 which also mentions screening or email firstname.lastname@example.org with “BreastScreen Review” as the subject title.
